MESQUITE, TX (June 5, 2012) — A health care financial veteran has been named Chief Financial Officer for Dallas Regional Medical Center. Gene Winters joined the hospital’s executive team from the WestMed Health System in western North Carolina where he served as CFO.
“We are excited about welcoming Gene to our team,” says Matt Caldwell, president and chief executive officer of Dallas Regional. “His experience and insight is on-target with our needs to successfully navigate the challenges ahead. We have an exciting future planned for the hospital and Gene will be a key contributor to our future success.”
Winters received his bachelor of science in public finance degree from the University of West Georgia. His wife is a pharmacist and they have a four-year-old son. His career experience includes CEO of a hospital management firm, CFO of a capital formation firm and CFO and founder of a psychiatric hospital chain. At age 24, he was the youngest hospital CFO for a Hospital Corporation of America hospital. He serves on the foundation board of the University of West Georgia and the board of visitors at the Richards College of Business at the university. He also serves as chief of strategy for a non-profit group that works to get Jews out of the former Soviet Union and into Israel.
“I feel very blessed to be a part of a strong health care team that puts the patient first,” says Winters. “We have an excellent opportunity to create a strong financial base to grow our services in the surrounding communities, continuing to add cutting-edge services and technologies such as the DaVinci surgical robotics.
