Stroke is a serious medical condition that can significantly impact quality of life.
Dallas Regional Medical Center activates American Heart Association protocols when a patient with stroke symptoms presents. There is a narrow treatment window for stroke, which is why it's important that you go to Emergency Room immediately if you suspect stroke symptoms.
The American Heart Association lists the following symptoms, any of which may signal the start of a stroke:
-Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
-Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understandind
-Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
-Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
-Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
When any of these symptoms appear, call 911 immediately and go to an Emergency Room where you can be properly diagnosed.
Stroke Care at Dallas Regional Medical Center is led by Neurologist Amir Torabi, M.D., Stroke Medical Director.
